Jiri studied at the Charles University of Prague (Czech republic) and also the Vienna University (Austria) during his Erasmus postgraduate studies . While studying for his PhD, he started working as an assistant professor at the Department of Environmental Law and at the same time as a lawyer at the State Office for Nuclear Safety.  Subsequently, in preparation for his future career, he worked for more than a year as a senior trainee at a bailiff’s office, from where he moved to the Bar, where he remained. In 2019, he passed the bar exam with an excellent grade and at the beginning of 2020 the law firm BUCHTA, POKORNÝ & PARTNEŘI was founded with his friend and co-partner Adam Buchta.

BUCHTA, POKORNY & PARTNERS is a smaller-size law firm in Prague and Karvina with around 10 lawyers who are almost covering all the law fields. Today Jiří is a specialist in foreign law and cases with a cross-border element (including criminal and commercial matters). His other specialties include out-of-court dispute resolution, but he has no problem representing clients in court, as well as in negotiations with the state or any other counterparty. The law firm also includes a tax advisor colleague and a number of other colleagues preparing legal opinions, contracts, filings and other matters for clients. Each member of the BPP legal team speaks a minimum of 3 languages to ensure a professional level of legal services for our clients. The Prague part of the office deals primarily with global clients, while the Karviná office primarily serves Poland and corporates, as Adam Buchta, who heads it, is ethnically Polish. Adam is also the insolvency administrator and our law office is quite close to the field of insolvency because of that.

Languages: Czech, English, German and Russian.
